Parliamentary Researcher to Julia Goldsworthy MP

£19,360-£22,360 pa

Julia is looking for a full-time Parliamentary Researcher for her London office.

Responsibilities will include:

· Drafting responses to policy related correspondence from constituents and correspondence relating to wider Cornish issues

· Drafting Parliamentary Questions, Freedom of Information Requests, briefing notes, speeches, articles and press releases

· Monitoring local and national press and constituency correspondence, anticipating and advising on appropriate responses to issues of importance to Falmouth and Camborne and Ms Goldsworthy's portfolio

· Dealing with some casework on behalf of Ms Goldsworthy's constituents

· Acting as the first point of contact for members of the local press

· Managing the busy Westminster diary

· Undertaking own administrative tasks

· Managing volunteers working in the Westminster office

· Act as a representative at meetings and events in Ms Goldsworthy's absence and report back when appropriate

· Work with the wider Parliamentary Team for Cornwall, co-ordinating joint press releases, arranging events and publishing reports

Candidates are expected to have:

· Political judgement

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Strong analytical skills

· A good understanding of IT

· An ability to work independently

· Sympathy with the views of the Liberal Democrats

Previous experience in Parliament will be a distinct advantage. Knowledge of Cornish issues and current developments within the Communities and Local Government portfolio is also desirable.
