Julia gets plastering!

Julia and Terrye Teverson, Parliamentary Campaigner for Truro and Falmouth, joined staff and a wide variety of local community groups at Falmouth Community Hospital on Friday to celebrate the completion of its extensive refurbishments.

The open day hosted a range of displays from the various organisations and highlighted the excellent work done by health, social care and the voluntary sectors in Carrick.

Demonstrations showed what the PCT is doing to tackle issues such as infection control and hospital admission avoidance. The hospital staff were also providing blood pressure and blood sugar checks, as well as the chance for visitors to try their hand with plaster of paris!

Commenting on her visit Julia Goldsworthy MP said:

"It was very interesting to meet with the community and hospital teams at Falmouth and to have the opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes at a busy community hospital.

"I cannot praise the work of these skilful and dedicated staff highly enough- they play a vital role, both to the individuals who they are caring for and in our local community as a whole.

Terrye Teverson added:

"It was interesting to have my arm put in plaster - the latest techniques make this process very quick. I thought the Open Day was an excellent way of showcasing various organisation involved in the wellbeing of local people. I was delighted to also meet one of the patients who is 101 years old but only looks in her 70's. She was amazing and still reading novels. The refurbishment gives the whole hospital a warm and friendly feeling.

"I would like to thank Matron Claire Poole and her staff for the wonderful day they organised.
