"TWO CHEERS" FOR REOPENING OF FALMOUTH POST OFFICE

6.00.00pm GMT Thu 21st Feb 2008

Julia Goldsworthy MP has given 'two cheers' to the news that Falmouth Post Office has re-opened.

Miss Goldsworthy - who wrote several letters to Post Office Limited demanding that the branch be reopened - welcomed the move.

But she insisted that a permanent solution still had to be found.

Commenting, Julia Goldsworthy said:

"It's really good news. But I'm giving two cheers instead of three.

"The Post Office is opening temporarily, but local people haven't been told what the long term plans are for this vital service.

"People in Falmouth need to know that there is going to be a permanent solution to this problem - and Post Office Ltd have yet to provide that assurance.

"Falmouth Post Office is a lifeline to many local people and it is simply not acceptable to deprive them of its services without offering an alternative.

"I will be monitoring the situation carefully and will continue to press Post Office Ltd until the solution they provide is a permanent one.
