MP Presents Sportsmatch Cheque for £24,000 to Redruth Rugby Club

Julia Goldsworthy presents Redruth RFC officials with the Sportsmatch cheque for £24,000

Last Saturday, Julia Goldsworthy, MP for Falmouth and Camborne presented a Sportsmatch cheque for £24,000 to Redruth Rugby Club President, Derek Collins.

Sportsmatch are a government funded initiative that aims to support the development of grassroots sport in England. Funds are awarded to organisations that are working to promote participation in sport at community level.

After the presentation, Ms Goldsworthy said:

"I was delighted to be able to present Redruth RFC with their cheque on Saturday. I would like to take this opportunity to again congratulate the club on securing the funding and also on an excellent season of rugby so far."

"The contribution that clubs like Redruth make to the local community is huge. The development of grassroots sport is important in keeping people fit and healthy as well as nurturing talent which is vital for the future of competition at all levels."
