"Being awarded 'Newcomer of the Year' was both very surprising and deeply flattering."

"Representing my home constituency in Parliament is a great honour and I was thrilled to accept the award on Thursday night - it's a huge compliment. At the moment it?s just exciting to be working hard for my constituency and seeing the work paying off."

Others presented with an award included: Home Secretary John Reid, the Rt Hon Lord Tebbit, and Tom Watson MP.
